Teradyne Robotics Crashes Through Pandemic Woes With 33 Revenue Surge

Teradyne Robotics Sees Significant Revenue Growth in Q2 2026, Driven by AI Demand

In a recent earnings call, Teradyne Robotics announced that its revenue increased by 33% year-over-year to $100 million in the second quarter of 2026. This growth marks the company’s fifth consecutive quarter of expansion, with revenue surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The boost in revenue is attributed to the increasing demand for semiconductor and data center equipment, as well as the growing importance of AI-powered solutions.

Our strategy to capture test and robotics opportunities from wafer to AI data center has driven another record quarter, stated Greg Smith, CEO of Teradyne Inc., which includes Teradyne Robotics. AI Pioneer RLWRLD Secures $26M Investment Boost Amid Rapid Robotics Industry Growth highlights the growing importance of AI in driving business growth. This strength became evident in the year-on-year market expansion for all three of our business groups.

The Universal Robots (UR) and MiR segments within Teradyne Robotics are also performing well. UR, which specializes in force- and power-limited robots, reported significant growth in its sales. Robots on the Cusp of Breakthrough: Where Hardware Meets Software Harmony emphasizes the increasing collaboration between hardware and software in robotics. The company’s mobile robot provider segment, MiR, also experienced a boost in revenue, driven by increasing demand for autonomous and semi-autonomous solutions.

The U.S. market is becoming increasingly important for Teradyne Robotics, with sales accounting for 32% of the company’s overall revenue in Q2 2026. To cater to this growing demand, Teradyne plans to launch a manufacturing center in Michigan later this year. This investment will enable the company to better serve its U.S.-based customers and expand its presence in the region.

AI is playing a pivotal role in driving Teradyne’s revenue growth, according to Smith. “All three of our business groups — Semiconductor Test, Product Test, and Robotics — grew year over year and quarter over quarter, highlighting the AI demand across all parts of the business,” he said during the call. Robotics Titans Honored as Global Pioneers in Commercial Innovation recognizes Teradyne’s leadership in commercial innovation, which is largely driven by its AI strategy.

The company expects AI interest to continue driving robotics revenue in the coming years. The fastest-growing segments for Teradyne Robotics are electronics manufacturing and semiconductors, with Smith attributing this growth to the increasing demand for assembly, automation, test, and burn-in equipment. By addressing these applications with enhanced production board test, optical test, backplane test, and robotic-assisted test and assembly, Symbotic Speeds Up Supply Chain With Record Mileage Gains showcases the potential of AI-driven solutions in supply chain management.

Teradyne’s AI strategy has been instrumental in recovering its robotics revenue since 2021. The company experienced rapid growth during the COVID-19 pandemic but struggled to maintain momentum after the pandemic subsided. To address this challenge, Teradyne implemented a series of cost-cutting measures, including two rounds of layoffs in 2025.

In January 2025, Teradyne laid off 10% of its global workforce, and later that year, in November, it conducted another round of layoffs, this time accounting for 14% of the company’s workforce. The layoffs were a proactive step to strengthen the business and ensure long-term sustainability.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Michelle Turner, chief financial officer of Teradyne Inc., expects continued growth in robotics revenue. “We believe that there is currently a multibillion-dollar market for assembly, automation, test, and burn-in equipment, and we expect mid-double-digit growth rates through the end of the decade,” said Smith.

By addressing this opportunity with enhanced production board test, optical test, backplane test, and robotic-assisted test and assembly, Teradyne is poised to capitalize on the growing demand for AI-powered solutions. The company’s focus on innovation and its strategic partnerships will be crucial in driving future growth and establishing a strong presence in the rapidly evolving robotics market.

Teradyne Robotics’ Q2 2026 revenue increase demonstrates the power of its AI-driven strategy and its ability to adapt to changing market demands. As the company continues to expand its offerings and invest in emerging technologies, it is well-positioned for sustained growth and success in the years to come.
