Us Army Unveils Revolutionary Kamikaze Drones To Boost Battlefield Edge

The US Department of Defense has awarded an $8.8 million contract to Israeli company XTEND to deploy Precision Strike Indoor & Outdoor (PSIO) drones, marking a major advancement in tactical drone technology.

The Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD), under the DoD’s oversight, has selected XTEND’s Scorpio 500 drone as the primary platform for combat teams in the field. The Scorpio 500 is an autonomous drone capable of being flown in swarms of up to three units, creating a mesh network for enhanced communication.

The US military’s increasing reliance on AI-powered systems has led to significant advancements in drone technology, enabling real-time precision strikes with minimal operator involvement. XTEND’s PSIO sUAS system boasts cutting-edge features, including GPS-denied environments, a range of 3 miles, and an FPV camera for live viewing during operations.

“We are honored to strengthen our partnership with IWTSD,” said Aviv Shapira, CEO of XTEND. “This contract validates our technology’s ability to address the complex challenges faced by modern defense forces.”

The Scorpio 500 has undergone rigorous testing, including live-fire exercises and safety assessments, ensuring compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Manufacturing will occur in the US, with facilities in Florida and North Carolina contributing to production.

XTEND’s AI-driven drones are designed to succeed in complex environments, providing situational awareness and actionable intelligence. The company’s XOS control suite offers an immersive VR interface that requires zero learning, allowing operators to interact seamlessly with various drones in the air.

The growing role of AI-driven loitering munitions in modern defense strategies is evident in this contract, which underscores the US military’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. As the global landscape continues to evolve, the integration of AI-powered systems will be crucial for addressing the challenges of contemporary warfare.

With its cutting-edge technology and emphasis on situational awareness, XTEND’s PSIO sUAS system is poised to revolutionize combat capabilities, providing a significant advantage in modern defense operations.
