Google’s AI-Powered Assistant, Gemini, has taken another step forward in its mission to revolutionize the way we interact with digital files. In the latest update to the Files by Google app, users can now summon Gemini while gazing at a PDF on their phone screen, and get answers to their burning questions.
For this feature to work, users must be subscribed to Gemini Advanced. The rollout of this innovative feature has begun, allowing users to leverage the power of AI to enhance their PDF experience. Mishaal Rahman shared an article earlier this week revealing that this is possible.
When summoning Gemini while viewing a PDF in the Files app, a new button will appear that reads “Ask about this PDF.” Tapping on this button enables users to pose questions about the file, much like they would with ChatGPT. This innovative feature was first showcased by Google at its I/O developer conference in May, where screen-aware capabilities were announced.
A screenshot shared by Rahman provides a glimpse into what this feature looks like in action. With Gemini’s advanced capabilities, users can now delve deeper into their PDFs and uncover new insights, making the digital filing system more intuitive and user-friendly than ever before.
