Mike Flanagan Brings Clayface To The Big Screen In Dc Cinematic Universe Revamp

Mike Flanagan has signed on to write a feature film about Clayface, the shape-shifting villain from DC Comics. As part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s efforts to revitalize its cinematic universe, the project is being fast-tracked for production with Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris’ company 6th & Idaho on board to produce.

The movie is expected to begin filming sometime next year, although details about the director remain scarce. The film’s announcement signals a broader strategy by WBD to bring DC characters into both animation and live-action, as revealed by co-CEO James Gunn last year. This approach is already bearing fruit, with Viola Davis reprising her role as Amanda Waller in Creature Commandos and Frank Grillo set to voice Rick Flagg Sr. in Peacemaker’s upcoming second season.

The inclusion of Alan Tudyk, who voiced Clayface in Max’s Harley Quinn series, suggests that the film will maintain a connection to the popular animated show. DC Studios continues to build its cinematic universe, with fans expecting more characters like Clayface to be brought to life on both big and small screens.

With Flanagan at the helm, expectations are high for this project, which marks another significant move by WBD in its efforts to revitalize its DC slate. The creative team’s vision for Clayface’s story remains under wraps, but with the success of other recent DC Studios projects, it’s clear that the franchise is poised for a resurgence.
