Indian genAI startup KissanAI has released an experimental research preview of its cutting-edge AI model Dhenu2, designed to tackle the pressing issue of climate-resilient agriculture. The platform aims to empower farmers worldwide with valuable insights and tools to enhance sustainability and resilience in agricultural practices.
The release is an experimental step towards democratizing expert agricultural knowledge and bringing it to the masses through language models integrated into chatbots, assistants, and copilot applications. According to Pratik Desai, founder of Kissan AI, leveraging AI-driven platforms has the potential to revolutionize how farmers adapt to climate challenges.
“We’re excited to share this experimental release with experts and researchers who can provide valuable feedback to improve the model,” said Desai. “Our goal is to make expert agricultural knowledge accessible to everyone, from farmers to policymakers and agri-businesses.”
The Dhenu2 platform boasts an extensive knowledge base of over 4,000 agricultural categories and topics, trained on 1.5 million real and synthetic instructions. This wealth of information is informed by insights gathered from conversations with more than 100,000 farmers, ensuring that decision-making is rooted in real-world scenarios.
To further enhance its capabilities, Dhenu2 has introduced the Dhenu Developer Platform, an open-source solution that enables developers to create custom agricultural solutions using the platform’s Llama 3 architecture. This flexibility allows organizations to tailor the platform to their specific needs and create bespoke solutions for farmers and growers.
KissanAI was founded by Desai in 2023 with the ambitious goal of addressing the challenges faced by Indian farmers, particularly when it came to region-specific knowledge and digital literacy. The company’s vision is to empower farmers globally with AI-driven tools that enhance sustainability and resilience in agricultural practices.
The experimental release of Dhenu2 is now available on Hugging Face, offering an open platform for experts to explore and test its capabilities. As the project progresses, it’s clear that KissanAI’s mission to democratize knowledge and empower farmers worldwide is one step closer to becoming a reality.
