Dronetag Unveils Compact Remote ID Receiver to Boost Drone Safety Amid Rising Concerns
In a bid to address growing concerns for reliable drone detection solutions, Dronetag has introduced RIDER, a compact and battery-powered Remote ID receiver designed to provide real-time position, altitude, speed, and pilot information for drones in the vicinity. Weighing just 64 grams, RIDER is lightweight enough to be easily carried on a person or integrated into existing systems.
The device captures Remote ID signals from any drone regardless of manufacturer, providing comprehensive situational awareness. Its detection range extends up to 6 miles with an optional high-performance antenna, making it suitable for both urban and rural environments. RIDER features three connectivity options: integrated LTE, Bluetooth, and USB-C, allowing seamless data transmission through Dronetag’s mobile app or integration with existing UTM and counter-UAS systems.
The RIDER supports multiple GNSS systems including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, ensuring accurate location tracking. While smartphones were initially expected to handle drone detection tasks, their limitations created an opportunity for dedicated devices like RIDER. However, the effectiveness of such receivers depends on drones properly broadcasting Remote ID signals – a regulatory requirement that isn’t yet universally followed.
RIDER is targeted towards public safety agencies and commercial drone operators, enabling monitoring of drone activity in sensitive areas and maintaining awareness of other aircraft in their vicinity, respectively. The device operates across temperatures from -4°F to 140°F and features an IP54 rating for limited dust and water resistance.
The market position of RIDER is expected to be competitive, with Dronetag positioning itself as a leader in drone detection solutions. With its compact design, advanced features, and compatibility with existing systems, RIDER addresses the growing need for reliable drone detection solutions in the industry.
Key Features:
Dronetag has priced the RIDER at $899/€799 during its pre-order period, which runs until mid-March 2025. The device will be distributed through authorized resellers in the US and EU starting mid-February. Interested parties can experience RIDER firsthand at XPONENTIAL 2025 in Düsseldorf from February 18-20, 2025.
