Dji Unveils Revolutionary Fly App Update For Dji Neo 2 Mini Drone

DJI’s Latest Fly App Update Brings Smarts to the DJI Neo 2 Mini Drone

DJI has released version 1.19.0 of its Fly app, which brings a plethora of new features and improvements, particularly for the company’s newest mini drone, the DJI Neo 2. The latest update not only enables full compatibility with the Neo 2 but also introduces a suite of intelligent flight functions that make piloting easier, smoother, and more fun.

The update supports the DJI Neo 2, allowing users to connect seamlessly with RC-N2, RC-N3, and RC 2 controllers or even fly via Wi-Fi directly from their phones. This feature adds a new level of convenience and flexibility to the already impressive Neo 2 drone.

Several intelligent flight functions are tailored specifically for the Neo 2, including SelfieShot, Gesture controls, Customizable mode sets, Freer ActiveTrack, and improved voice recognition. These features are designed to make piloting the Neo 2 more intuitive and enjoyable, especially for beginners.

SelfieShot allows users to capture stunning selfies from multiple angles with a single tap, while Gesture controls enable them to extend their palm to recall the drone or adjust its position mid-air. The Customizable mode sets feature lets users experiment with creative presets like MasterShots or Cycling Follow for dynamic footage. Additionally, Freer ActiveTrack enables users to switch tracking directions on the fly, giving creators more flexibility in framing.

The improved voice recognition is a significant upgrade, signaling a continued focus by DJI on making drones more responsive to natural commands. This feature will undoubtedly enhance the overall piloting experience and make it easier for users to control their drone with minimal fuss.

Unveiled this week in China, the DJI Neo 2 builds upon the original Neo’s simple phone-controlled design but takes every aspect of it to a whole new level. Weighing just 151 grams, it’s featherlight yet impressively capable – fitting somewhere between a toy and a pro mini drone.

The Neo 2 is equipped with omnidirectional obstacle sensing and a forward-facing LiDAR sensor, which enables it to detect walls, trees, and poles in every direction and automatically stop before hitting them. Combined with fully enclosed propeller guards, it’s arguably one of DJI’s safest beginner drones to date.

In terms of camera performance, the Neo 2 shines. Its upgraded 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor captures stunning 4K/60fps video, with an option for 4K/100fps slow motion and vertical 2.7K video for Reels and TikToks. A new dual-axis gimbal ensures stability, while 49GB of internal storage and Wi-Fi transfer speeds up to 80MB/s make exporting clips quick and painless.

The Neo 2’s Smart Selfie and Riding Follow modes make it a “flying photographer” that tracks runners or cyclists up to 27 mph, automatically keeping subjects in frame. With palm takeoff, gesture control, and a tiny built-in display, even first-time fliers can capture cinematic shots without fumbling with settings.

The Neo 2’s ease of use is one of its standout features. Its compact design, lightweight construction, and intuitive controls make it an ideal drone for beginners or casual flyers. And at under 250g, recreational users won’t need to register it with the FAA, making it a more accessible option for those looking to get into drone flying.

However, US customers will have to wait a bit longer. While the Neo 2 already passed FCC certification, DJI’s ongoing trade and regulatory challenges could delay a US debut.

The DJI Neo 2’s robust feature set and impressive capabilities make it clear that DJI is committed to pushing the boundaries of drone technology and making flying more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. As we await the official launch of the DJI Neo 2 in the US market, this update serves as a tantalizing glimpse into what’s to come.

With its intelligent flight functions, improved camera performance, and compact design, the Neo 2 is poised to become one of the most popular drones on the market.
