The seventh-generation smartphone stabilizers from DJI, featuring the Osmo Mobile 7P and Osmo Mobile 7, boast enhanced subject tracking capabilities, making it easier than ever for content creators to capture stunning footage with their smartphones. According to Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI, “Our goal is to empower creatives to push the boundaries of what’s possible with smartphone cameras.”

The flagship Osmo Mobile 7P combines tracking capabilities with integrated light control and audio features in a multifunctional module that connects via USB-C, providing both audio transmission and power delivery. In contrast, the entry-level Osmo Mobile 7 offers similar core stabilization features in what DJI claims is the lightest gimbal in its class, weighing approximately 10 ounces (300g).

One of the standout features of the new stabilizers is their advanced tracking system, ActiveTrack 7.0. This system now offers Smart Capture for multiple subject detection and boasts enhanced tracking persistence when subjects are temporarily obscured. The Mimo app enables remote operation through specific hand movements, including palm gestures to initiate or stop tracking, a “V” gesture to trigger photo capture or video recording, and a “Double L” gesture to adjust subject framing.

The devices incorporate practical design elements such as one-step unfolding mechanisms, integrated extension rods (on the 7P model), built-in tripods, and magnetic mounting systems for accessories. Battery performance is rated at up to 10 hours of operation, although real-world testing will be necessary to verify this claim under various use conditions.

DJI offers a two-tier product strategy, positioning the 7P as a premium option for content creators requiring advanced features and the base model at a more accessible price point. The Multifunctional Module is available separately for Osmo Mobile 7 users wanting to add enhanced capabilities.
