Dallas-Fort Worth residents can enjoy a speedier, more convenient shopping experience thanks to Wing’s partnership with DoorDash and Brookfield Properties. The innovative drone delivery system is set to revolutionize the retail landscape in American malls.
Launching at two prominent malls – Stonebriar Centre in Frisco and Hulen Mall in Fort Worth – this cutting-edge service brings local merchants and customers together, making it easier than ever to get gifts and meals delivered quickly. With over 50 participating merchants, Wing’s high-speed drones can transport items and meals to doorsteps in as little as 15 minutes.
Wing’s advanced technology allows its drones to navigate at speeds of up to 65 mph and reach cruising heights of about 150 feet before safely landing the delivery at customers’ doorstep. The company has been perfecting this system for years, completing over 400,000 commercial deliveries worldwide since launching US operations five years ago.
As part of this innovative partnership, DoorDash customers with an eligible address in Dallas-Fort Worth can now opt for drone delivery on their checkout page. Simply select the option and place your order to enjoy fast, convenient delivery.
The expansion is a significant milestone in Wing’s journey as a Google spin-off focused on drone delivery. Brookfield Properties will explore new ways of incorporating drone delivery into its retail properties, aiming to enable businesses to make better use of underutilized spaces like rooftops or parking areas.
“We’re proud to be the first landlord to provide drone delivery as another avenue to help our tenants serve their communities,” said Katie Kurtz, senior vice president of Business Development at Brookfield Properties. “We’re committed to meeting the changing needs of consumers and evolving our assets to stay ahead in retail.”
Wing’s partnership with DoorDash is driven by a shared goal of providing customers with the convenience and speed they crave. The expansion follows successful pilot programs in Melbourne, Australia, and Christiansburg, Virginia.
The Federal Aviation Administration recently allowed Wing and Zipline to make beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) flights over Dallas, marking an important step towards commercial drone operations without visual observers.
DoorDash aims to bring customers the convenience of on-demand delivery as it integrates drone delivery into its shopping centers. Brookfield Properties’ innovative approach with Wing’s expertise will shape the future of retail, enabling businesses to reach more customers at home via drone delivery.
