Chipotle Mexican Grill has partnered with Zipline, the world’s largest autonomous delivery system, to bring fast and convenient food deliveries right to customers’ doors. Starting today, a limited number of Zipline users in the greater Dallas area will have access to Zipotle, marking the beginning of a new era in food delivery.
The partnership is designed to make mealtime more efficient and enjoyable for customers. With its fleet of quiet, zero-emission aircraft, Zipline promises to deliver digital orders to guests’ locations in record time, while maintaining the freshness and quality of Chipotle’s menu items. The company’s entire menu, including popular options like burritos, bowls, and tacos, is eligible for Zipotle delivery.
To make this service a reality, Zipline has developed a sophisticated system that uses physical AI to design, manufacture, and operate its autonomous aircraft. These drones are designed to navigate challenging terrain with ease, ensuring safe and efficient deliveries even in wind, rain, or extreme temperatures. Advanced sensors and navigation technology enable the aircraft to avoid obstacles and precision-land at the customer’s doorstep.
For customers in the Rowlett area, downloading the Zipline app on their Apple or Android device is all that’s required to place an order for Zipotle delivery. Employees will then place the order into a designated “Zipping Point,” which allows the autonomous aircraft to autonomously pick up and deliver the food. The entire process, from ordering to delivery, is expected to take mere minutes.
The first Chipotle location to offer Zipotle deliveries is the one at 3109 Lakeview Pkwy in Rowlett, TX. The service will be available seven days a week, initially from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT, with plans to expand hours to 10 p.m. CT in the coming weeks.
Curt Garner, President and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer at Chipotle, believes that Zipotle is a quick and convenient source of delivery that lets guests enjoy their real food from places that are traditionally challenging to serve, including backyards and public parks. This aligns perfectly with Chipotle’s mission to Cultivate a Better World.
Keller Rinaudo Cliffton, CEO and Co-Founder of Zipline, shares the same sentiment. “With Zipline, you tap a button, and minutes later food magically appears – hot, fresh, and ultra-fast,” he says. “Starting today, families in the Dallas area can have food delivered by Zipotle and served for lunch or dinner. What once felt like science fiction is soon going to become totally normal.”
To put the capabilities of Zipline into perspective, the company has achieved remarkable milestones in its operations. Its autonomous aircraft have safely flown over 100 million commercial miles, equivalent to driving every road in the United States 24 times. Additionally, Zipline has completed over 1.6 million commercial deliveries using its long-range and home delivery systems.
Zipline’s impressive track record is a testament to its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. The company is pioneering a new era in last-mile logistics, making it possible for customers to receive fast, fresh, and high-quality food with minimal environmental impact.
As Chipotle continues to expand its Zipotle delivery service across the country, this partnership marks an exciting new chapter in the company’s history. With its focus on convenience, sustainability, and quality, Zipotle is poised to revolutionize the way people enjoy their favorite meals. The integration of Zipline’s technology with Chipotle’s menu items is expected to enhance the overall dining experience for customers, providing a seamless and efficient mealtime solution.
The collaboration between Zipline and Chipotle has significant implications for the food delivery industry, as it sets a new standard for speed, quality, and sustainability. As Zipline continues to expand its services and refine its technology, it’s likely that we’ll see more restaurants and food establishments follow suit, adopting autonomous delivery systems to meet the growing demand for convenient and fast meal solutions.
With Zipotle, customers can enjoy their favorite Chipotle menu items delivered hot and fresh to their doorstep, all while minimizing their environmental impact. This innovative service is not only a game-changer for the food delivery industry but also an exciting development in the company’s efforts to Cultivate a Better World.
