Brotherly Deceit Unfolds As Wealthy Real Estate Duo Arrested For Decades-Long Sex Trafficking Ring

Two brothers, Oren and Tal Alexander, have been arrested on federal charges related to a decades-long sex trafficking conspiracy. The indictment alleges that the siblings, both top luxury real estate agents, worked together with others to lure and exploit dozens of women in Manhattan and Miami.

The scheme began in 2010 and continued for over 10 years, during which time the brothers used their wealth and prominent positions in the industry to create opportunities for women to be forcibly raped or sexually assaulted. The indictment claims that they would plan out these assaults in advance, using promises of luxury experiences and travel as bait to entice victims.

Tal Alexander, now 38, was one of several men involved in arranging events and trips that served as “bait” for recruiting women. According to prosecutors, he and his brother Oren would secure drugs, including hallucinogenic mushrooms, cocaine, and GHB, which they agreed to provide to women before these events.

The use of drugs as a means of coercion was a common tactic employed by the brothers and their accomplices. In some cases, women were surreptitiously given these substances without their knowledge or consent. This allowed the perpetrators to manipulate victims into participating in sex acts against their will.

Oren Alexander’s career in real estate began at Douglas Elliman before launching his own brokerage, Official, with his brother Tal in 2022. Their lucrative careers have been marred by years of allegations from multiple women who claim to have been victims of their exploitation.

The FBI first began investigating the Alexander brothers after The Real Deal reported on two women filing civil lawsuits against Oren and Alon earlier this year. Since then, several more women have come forward with similar allegations. Among them is Kate Whiteman, who filed a lawsuit accusing both brothers of raping her in 2010.

The allegations against the Alexander brothers are part of a larger issue of women being exploited by powerful men in wealthy social circles. Business Insider’s investigation found that it was an open secret among these groups for years that the brothers mistreated women.

US Attorney Damian Williams urged additional victims to come forward during a press conference announcing the indictment. “Our investigation is far from over,” he said. “If you have been a victim of the alleged sexual violence perpetrated by Alon Alexander, Oren Alexander, or Tal Alexander — or if you know anything about their alleged crimes — we urge you to come forward.”

The arrest serves as a reminder that no one is above the law and that those who exploit women will be held accountable. Attorney General Merrick Garland stated, “No one is above the law, not even those with great wealth or influence.”
