Autoflight Wins Major Breakthrough As Caac Awards First-Ever Production License For Advanced Evtol Cargo Aircraft

AutoFlight Makes History with CAAC Production Certificate for CarryAll eVTOL Cargo Aircraft
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has awarded AutoFlight a Production Certificate (PC) for its CarryAll unmanned cargo aircraft, marking the first-ever production license for a 2-ton electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This milestone certification paves the way for mass production and commercialization.
The CAAC’s approval comes after a rigorous evaluation process, including quality system documentation reviews, on-site inspections, and supplier audits. AutoFlight had previously secured a Type Certificate (TC) for CarryAll in March 2024, but this new certification is a significant step forward in the aircraft’s development.
eVTOL technology has the potential to revolutionize air logistics, offering several advantages over traditional methods, including reduced operating costs, environmental sustainability, and increased efficiency. AutoFlight’s CarryAll is designed to serve three primary markets: logistics transportation, emergency supply delivery, and rescue operations, with customers including logistics providers, emergency services, general aviation operators, and government agencies.
The 2-ton electric aircraft features a maximum takeoff weight comparable to that of a small helicopter but offers several advantages, including quieter operation. With its fully electric, autonomous design, CarryAll aims to reduce environmental impact while providing reliable and efficient cargo transportation solutions.
AutoFlight’s comprehensive production quality assurance manual includes 39 procedural documents developed during the certification process. The company has set a world record for a single-battery flight distance (250.3km) and conducted notable achievements such as a formation flight of three full-scale eVTOL aircraft and an inter-city air-taxi flight from Shenzhen to Zhuhai in February 2024.
The CAAC’s acceptance of AutoFlight’s Type Certificate application for its manned Prosperity aircraft marks another significant milestone in the company’s eVTOL development. With this production license, AutoFlight is poised to expand its commercial operations and establish delivery and after-sales support systems to meet growing demand for eVTOL technology.
As the air logistics industry continues to evolve, companies like AutoFlight are at the forefront of innovation, driving efficiency, sustainability, and environmental benefits. The company’s certification demonstrates its commitment to eVTOL development and positions it well to capitalize on the trend shaping the future of air transportation.
