PTC has partnered with Microsoft and the Volkswagen Group to develop a groundbreaking generative AI product for software development in physical products. The joint venture aims to harness the power of artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and quality of product requirements, testing, and validation.
Codebeamer Copilot is built on top of PTC’s Codebeamer application lifecycle management (ALM) technology, integrating Microsoft Azure AI capabilities to empower software engineers to create, manage, and release product requirements with unprecedented ease and accuracy. This innovative solution is designed for industries worldwide.
The Volkswagen Group, one of the largest automotive conglomerates, has been a long-standing customer of PTC’s Codebeamer since 2023. With its vast portfolio of brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini, the company sought to leverage Codebeamer to support software development on next-generation electric vehicles. A strategic partnership is now being expanded with Microsoft Azure AI capabilities.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with PTC and Microsoft to bring generative AI capabilities to our software development process,” said Robert Kattner, head of IT engineering at Volkswagen Group. “Codebeamer Copilot will enable teams to create new specifications, test cases, and requirements more efficiently, while maintaining high-quality standards. This technology will significantly reduce time-to-market and enhance competitiveness in the automotive industry.”
Dayan Rodriguez, Microsoft representative, highlighted the immense potential of generative AI in manufacturing. Codebeamer Copilot is a remarkable example of how this technology simplifies complex processes like product development. “We’re excited to partner with PTC and Volkswagen Group to bring this innovation to market.”
A beta release of Codebeamer Copilot is expected in early 2025, marking an exciting milestone. As the automotive industry shifts towards digital transformation, this partnership will redefine future of product development and innovation.
