Paladin EnviroTech’s Acquisition of ICT: A Strategic Move to Dominate European IT Asset Disposition Market
In a significant move to strengthen its position in the growing European IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) market, Paladin EnviroTech has acquired ICT, Ireland’s first R2v3-certified ITAD provider. The acquisition, valued at €60 million, marks the latest milestone in Paladin’s nine-month acquisition spree, which spans across the U.S., Netherlands, and Ireland.
The ITAD market is crucial in ensuring that end-of-life electronics are handled securely, compliantly, and sustainably. As cloud infrastructure continues to expand, the demand for certified ITAD services is increasing rapidly. Paladin EnviroTech sees this as an opportunity to capitalize on the growing need for responsible e-waste management, particularly among hyperscale data centre operators.
Founded in Dublin in 2003, ICT has built a reputation for its operational excellence and commitment to chain-of-custody control. The company’s R2v3 certification is backed by independent audits to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, covering quality, environmental management, and occupational health respectively. ICT complies with EU cross-border waste shipment regulations and works closely with Ireland’s National Transfrontier Shipment Office.
ICT’s operational model is notable for its commitment to in-house processing. Its mobile, on-site data destruction capability means clients do not have to trust a third party with drives that have not yet been destroyed. This approach applies across ICT’s full service portfolio: IT asset remarketing, certified destruction, electronics recycling, data centre decommissioning, secure logistics, and ESG-aligned reporting.
Following the acquisition, ICT will transition to the Paladin brand and relocate to a newly-leased 52,000 square foot processing facility in Dublin. The move is seen as a strategic shift towards a more centralized and efficient operations model, which will enable Paladin to better serve its customers across Ireland and Europe.
The ICT deal marks the fifth acquisition by Paladin EnviroTech since its formal launch in July 2025 by SER Capital Partners. The company’s platform now spans five locations on two continents, with a total investment of $70 million (€60 million) across nine months.
Dublin’s data centre market is one of the most concentrated in the world, with the city accounting for more than half of Europe’s colocation capacity. The hyperscale segment represents 61.7% of the total Dublin market as of 2025, making it an attractive location for ITAD providers.
The AI infrastructure boom has accelerated this dynamic significantly. As AI-driven demand pushes data centres to expand at unprecedented speed, hardware refresh cycles shorten and the volume of end-of-life equipment grows in proportion. The Dublin data centre market is projected to nearly double in capacity from 0.63 thousand MW in 2026 to 1.25 thousand MW by 2031.
Every new rack that goes in eventually has to come out, with certified data destruction and materials recovery becoming essential services for hyperscale operators. Paladin EnviroTech believes that its platform will capture a disproportionate share of this premium-priced service.
GDPR and its associated enforcement have made the consequences of improper data disposal concrete and costly. Enterprises and hyperscalers operating in Ireland cannot afford to route decommissioned hardware through informal channels or vendors without verifiable certifications.
Paladin EnviroTech’s platform also includes rare-earth magnet recovery, a capability that locates the company within a strategically sensitive debate about Western supply chain dependency on Chinese and Asian processing for critical materials. Hard drives and other electronics contain permanent magnets using neodymium, dysprosium, and other rare earths.
Recovering and reprocessing these materials domestically or within allied supply chains has become an explicit policy objective for both the U.S. and EU governments. Paladin EnviroTech’s own language frames its mission partly in terms of “strengthening domestic and allied supply chains and supporting long-term economic and national security.”
The acquisition of ICT marks a significant milestone in Paladin EnviroTech’s journey to dominate the European ITAD market. With this deal, the company has demonstrated its commitment to quality, security, and sustainability, as well as its ability to build a platform that can serve customers across Ireland and Europe.
As the demand for certified ITAD services continues to grow, Paladin EnviroTech is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend. The company’s platform will enable it to deliver secure, compliant, and sustainable solutions for hyperscale operators, while also contributing to the broader goal of strengthening domestic and allied supply chains.
The servers that run today’s AI models will need somewhere to go. Paladin EnviroTech is building the infrastructure to receive them, positioning itself at the forefront of the rapidly evolving ITAD market in Europe.
