In a significant move, MightyFly, an autonomous air logistics company, has closed $10 million in new funding from esteemed investors Draper Associates, At One Ventures, and 500 Global. This round of funding brings the company’s total investment to $15 million, positioning it for rapid expansion and development of its cutting-edge hybrid eVTOL cargo aircraft.
MightyFly is pioneering a dual-use platform designed to serve both commercial supply chains and “mission-critical defense operations.” Its innovative autonomous eVTOL cargo aircraft can carry 100-500 pounds over distances of 600-1,000 miles with multiple stops per flight, all without requiring ground infrastructure like runways or dedicated landing pads. This design offers a game-changing solution for expedited logistics, leveraging the benefits of autonomy to eliminate labor-intensive infrastructure and reduce costs.
The company’s progress comes as U.S. policy increasingly supports the deployment of domestically built autonomous aircraft in the National Airspace System. The White House’s June 2025 Executive Order, “Unleashing American Drone Dominance,” calls for accelerated adoption and integration of advanced unmanned aircraft systems. MightyFly is poised to capitalize on this trend, focusing on building a robust and reliable platform that can navigate the complexities of commercial logistics.
“MightyFly is built around autonomy as a force multiplier—delivering speed, reach, and flexibility that traditional logistics can’t match,” said Manal Habib, Founder and CEO. “By eliminating infrastructure dependencies, we enable rapid expansion.” This vision is shared by investors, who see immense potential in MightyFly’s approach to redefine supply chains.
“MightyFly addresses structural inefficiencies in logistics,” noted Tim Chae, Managing Partner at 500 Global. “Autonomy has the potential to transform supply chains, and MightyFly’s platform reduces reliance on capital- and labor-intensive infrastructure, the largest cost drivers in logistics.” Helen Lin, Partner at At One Ventures, added that MightyFly’s innovative approach will virtually eliminate labor, the largest cost driver for logistics operations today.
MightyFly has made significant strides in developing its technology. The company has built three full-scale aircraft, completing over 400 autonomous flights. Additionally, it has obtained FAA Special Airworthiness Certificates covering multiple flight areas, corridors, and airports, a necessary step toward commercial operations. While this is a crucial milestone, MightyFly acknowledges that regulatory approval remains a significant hurdle between prototype and scalable business.
Investors point to MightyFly’s unique value proposition as a major differentiator in the market. The company claims there are “no other hybrid eVTOL cargo aircraft targeting up to 1,000-mile range and up to 500 pounds of payload.” While this is technically accurate when considering specific parameters, it is essential to consider competitors operating in adjacent spaces.
For example, Zipline operates at shorter ranges but has proven commercial scale with thousands of autonomous deliveries primarily for medical logistics. At the beginning of 2026, Zipline announced a $600 million fresh investment, valuing the company at $7.6 billion—a figure that makes MightyFly’s funding look relatively modest in comparison. Zipline plans to expand to at least four U.S. states in 2026.
MightyFly faces stiff competition from Austin-based Skyways, which secured a $37 million U.S. Air Force AFWERX contract in June 2025 — nearly four times the size of MightyFly’s total funding to date. However, MightyFly’s unique combination of range, payload, and multi-stop capability positions it as an interesting contender in the market.
The defense angle is another critical aspect of MightyFly’s strategy. Like Wingcopter’s recent pivot into defense manufacturing, MightyFly is explicitly positioning itself as a dual-use platform for both commercial supply chains and “mission-critical defense operations.” All revenue to date comes from defense and government contracts, indicating that this segment holds significant traction.
MightyFly cites the $319 billion expedited-delivery market as a key target. While this market is overwhelmingly commercial, defense budgets may be funding the development that eventually scales into commercial operations. Helen Lin noted, “Traditional logistics relies on capital and labor-intensive infrastructure that constrains speed, cost, and reliability… We believed in MightyFly’s fundamentally advantageous solution which virtually eliminates labor—the largest cost driver for logistics operations today.”
With $15 million in total investment secured, MightyFly is poised to make significant strides in scaling its autonomous hybrid eVTOL cargo aircraft. The company will use this funding to further develop its technology and expand its commercial operations. As the company navigates regulatory hurdles and commercial traction, one thing is clear: MightyFly’s innovative approach holds immense potential for transforming the logistics industry.
As the logistics industry continues to evolve, companies like MightyFly are poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of supply chain management. With autonomy and technology driving innovation, MightyFly’s pioneering work in hybrid eVTOL cargo aircraft is set to revolutionize expedited logistics.
By leveraging the benefits of autonomy, eliminating infrastructure dependencies, and reducing costs, MightyFly aims to deliver speed, reach, and flexibility that traditional logistics cannot match. As the company scales its operations and navigates regulatory hurdles, investors and stakeholders will be watching closely to see whether this vision becomes a reality.
With its unique value proposition, innovative technology, and defense-focused approach, MightyFly is an exciting player in the emerging autonomous logistics landscape. As the market continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to witness how MightyFly’s strategy unfolds and how its pioneering work transforms the logistics industry forever.
